Performer and Creative Portraits
Portraits of performers and creatives
Dancers, actors, musicians, visual artists. People whose work is expressive by nature deserve portraits that are too. We photograph performers in character, in motion and in their element, with lighting and direction designed to show their craft at its best.
This is some of the most rewarding work we do. It calls for precise timing, sculpted light and an eye for line and gesture, and it's where years of studio experience really show.
Studio or location
The studio gives us full control of the light, from dramatic and theatrical to clean and minimal, with room to move. Location sessions place you somewhere that suits your work: a stage, a rehearsal space, an industrial setting or the coastline. For larger productions, we can also work in a hired studio.
The session
At your design consultation, we design the concept around you: the mood, the movement or character to feature, costume, props and how the finished pieces will be used and displayed.
On the day, Paul directs the session and builds the light around you. For dancers that means timing and line; for actors and musicians, character and presence; for artists, a portrait that sits naturally alongside their work.
After the session, you return for your ordering appointment, see your portraits projected large, and choose your favourites.

Finished artwork
Performance portraits make striking large pieces: a framed portrait, a canvas or a series of fine art matted prints. A print box or custom album suits a full body of work from the session. Each piece includes its matching digital file.

Common questions
Can I bring costumes and props?
Yes, and we encourage it. We'll plan what to bring at your design consultation, including any changes.
Can you photograph movement, like leaps and turns?
Yes. Dance and movement are a large part of our performer work, with lighting set up to hold the moment crisply.
Do you do casting headshots?
Casting and profile headshots are handled by our sister studio, Gold Coast Headshot Photography.
