Individual and Couples Portraits

Portraits of you, and of the two of you

Most people have plenty of photos of their life and very few good portraits of themselves. A considered portrait is different. It's lit with care, directed with a light touch, and finished as a piece you'll be glad to display, give or keep.

Some clients come for a portrait of themselves, for a milestone birthday, a new chapter or simply because it's time. Others come as a couple, or are giving a portrait session as a gift. Either way, we design the session around the people in front of the camera and the finished piece.

    Studio or location

The studio suits a classic, refined portrait, with light shaped to flatter and nothing to distract from the person. Location sessions suit a more relaxed feel, using natural light and a setting around the Gold Coast. Many clients enjoy a little of both, and we'll recommend what suits you at your design consultation.

    The session

It starts with a design consultation at the studio, where we talk about the look you're drawn to, what to wear and where the finished portrait will be displayed.

Most people tell us they're not comfortable in front of a camera. That's normal, and it's where Paul's experience counts. He guides your posing and expression throughout, so you never feel left to work it out yourself. For couples, he keeps it relaxed and natural, with as much attention on how you connect as on how you stand.

After the session, you return for your ordering appointment, see your portraits projected large, and choose your favourites.

    Finished artwork

Individual portraits suit framed pieces and fine art matted prints, for your own walls or as a gift. Couples often choose a pair of framed portraits, a canvas, or a print box with a selection from the session. Retouching is natural and considered, so you still look like you, with your character and realistic skin texture intact.

    Common questions

I'm not comfortable being photographed. Will that show?

Very few people are. Paul guides you through every pose and expression, and the session moves at a pace that suits you.

Can I give a portrait session as a gift?

Yes. Get in touch and we'll arrange it, and help the recipient plan their session.

How much retouching do you do?

Enough to look polished, never so much that you don't recognise yourself. Every portrait keeps your character and natural skin texture.
